Claude Puel has revealed that Sofiane Boufal will miss this weekend’s trip to Sunderland, following the ankle injury he sustained against West Ham United.
Boufal was taken off during the second half of last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat, and he will not be able to make the trip to the Stadium of Light for the team’s latest Premier League clash.
Puel also says it is too early to tell whether the Morocco international will be fit to feature in the EFL Cup final later this month.
However, the Saints boss has no other new injury worries ahead of this Saturday’s game.
He said: "Sofiane is not available for this game and we will see for the final, for his recovery and his work. I don't know for the moment. But against Sunderland he is not available.
"We have long-term injuries, but no other new injuries. We are lacking Sofiane Boufal, who is an important player for us, and that is it."
