Ryan Bertrand believes there is plenty at stake for Southampton when they take on West Ham United tomorrow.
Saints host the Hammers, at St Mary’s, as they look to earn a win that would see them push up the Premier League table and leapfrog their opponents.
Claude Puel’s side begin the day in 12th place, one point and one position behind Slaven Bilić’s men, and, after Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Swansea, Bertrand underscored the importance of getting three points this weekend.
"It's big, just to get back on track and get back to winning ways in the Premier League,” he said.
With a 3-0 home win over champions Leicester in their last top-flight game at St Mary’s, Bertrand wants to see the same sort of performance this time around.
"I think we fancy our chances against anyone at home, so hopefully we can do that again,” he said.
The defender also explained that there is no loss of focus on the league, despite the EFL Cup final approaching later this month.
"It's good for the feeling around the team to have good confidence going into the final, but we're fully focused on the Premier League and when it comes we'll be fully focused on that, too,” said Bertrand.
"There's still plenty to play for in the league, and we can start that with a nice win at the weekend.
