Two years on from joining Southampton on a permanent basis, Ryan Bertrand has reflected on his time and progression at the club.

The defender arrived on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2014, but made the switch permanent in February of the following year.

The second anniversary of that passed this week, and Bertrand, who has made 91 appearances for Saints and established himself as an England regular in his time at the club, believes the move has been of benefit to both sides.

"I think it's been a fantastic time here so far,” he said, ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham United.

“We've had some historical moments and managed to achieve quite a lot.

“Hopefully we can continue that, get the ball over the line and bring back some silverware too, which would really round the two years off nicely.”

Reflecting on his improvement, Bertrand added: "I think that's what you look for as a player.

“You look to improve every year, every week and every moment you can. I feel Southampton have allowed me to do that.”
