West Ham boss Slaven Bilić has praised Southampton’s philosophy ahead of their meeting at St Mary’s this weekend.
Bilić’s men are looking to bounce back from their 4-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday, while Saints are targeting a response to their defeat at Swansea.
One point and one position separate the two in the Premier League and the Hammers boss has stressed the importance of the game for his side.
He said: “I remember they played some really good football and played some good away games and then I see they are below us.
“I like the way they play, they obviously have their ups and downs in games and have played a lot of games because of Europe and the EFL Cup.
“They have some new players and some injuries and it will be a tough game for us and for them.
“It is an important game because we are only one point above them and we want to make that gap bigger.”
