Claude Puel says Southampton must make sure they deal with the threat of Andy Carroll if they are to overcome West Ham United tomorrow.
Saints host Slaven Bilić's side at St Mary's, as they look to make it back-to-back home wins in the Premier League.
If they are to do that, and leapfrog the Hammers in the table in the process, then Puel insists they must find a way of negating the threat of Carroll.
"They are a team who can produce a good level," said Puel. "Their last game was a particular one, against Manchester City, but I think it's a team in confidence, at the same level of the table as us and it's an important game for us.
"It's a good team, with quality. They can play with Carroll, with long balls or crosses, or by winning the second ball around him.
"It's important to find a good solution and good cover around him, and also I think to keep the ball and limit their possibilities to play long or counter attack.
"It's important to start this game with good energy, good intensity, rhythm in the play. It's important to come back and find this good level again."
