Southampton Under-18s will face one of the best teams in the league on Tuesday afternoon, according to manager Craig Fleming.
Saints host Arsenal at Staplewood Campus in a midday kick-off, and will once again be forced into fielding a very young side.
“It’ll be a very, very tough test,” said Fleming.
“For me, Arsenal are probably the strongest side that we’ve seen in the league this year and we’ll be young.
“There is an Under-23s game on the Monday night, so the lads that have been mainstays in that side this season will of course be with them again.”
Despite the challenge ahead, Fleming is confident his younger players will tackle the match head on.
“Our young boys will come in,” he continued.
“It’ll be a tough game for them, but again another fantastic opportunity for them in terms of their development.
“They are continually being exposed to really tough opposition, which is exactly what they need.
“They will want to try and impress and it’s a great chance for them to try and do that against a very good side. I’m sure they will all be looking forward to it.”
