Oriol Romeu believes Southampton have helped him improve significantly in his time with the club – but the midfielder is confident there is still more to come.
Romeu signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal with Saints today, 18 months after joining from Chelsea.
The Spaniard has been in eye-catching form this season, picking up two of the fans’ Under Armour Player of the Month awards, while marking himself out as an integral part of Claude Puel’s squad.
"When I came, I was in not a difficult situation, but I had to improve and I knew I had to put in a lot of work to get better,” said Romeu. “I've been feeling much better.
“I've felt good improvement in my game and I don't want to stop. I think we all can get better, we all can improve so many things, so this is my target right now.
"I'm feeling very good playing, and taking every opportunity that the coach gives me, to prove that I want to be there every game and to help the team as much as I can.
“I think that's helping the team, that's helping myself, and I want to keep developing that football that I'm doing right now.”
