Oriol Romeu says Southampton’s game against Norwich City in the Emirates FA Cup is vital to restoring a positive feeling.
Saints have lost their last four Premier League matches, while they have drawn with Norwich City in the FA Cup and beaten Liverpool in the EFL Cup since Christmas.
But following Saturday’s defeat at Burnley, Wednesday night’s game against the Canaries is now really important to lift spirits, says Romeu.
“It’s not nice to lose and to have this run of four games lost in a row, but we know we have to come back,” Romeu told reporters.
“Now it’s is a cup again and it doesn’t matter what competition it is, we need to win and try to get the good feelings back.
“We would like not to struggle. We have a good enough squad to fight for higher places and hopefully in the league we can do that. This game is important to lift our spirits.”
Saints will return to Premier League action on Sunday when reigning champions Leicester visit St Mary’s, and Romeu knows just how crucial that fixture will also be.
“It’s going to be another massive game. I think the last three games were more or less against teams in our situation,” Romeu added.
“We need to win these battles, because it puts you ahead of them and it gives you more freedom to play afterwards. It’s going to be a massive game.”
