Shane Long hopes Bournemouth’s style of play can benefit Southampton at Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
Saints were frustrated by ten-man Stoke City on Wednesday night, as they sat back and soaked up the pressure from Claude Puel’s side after Marko Arnautović had been sent off.
Bournemouth though, as they have been praised for throughout the season, will look to play a passing game against Saints, and Long hopes that can aid them on Sunday.
“Bournemouth play some nice football,” he told reporters ahead of the game.
“They like to pass it around and control games, just like we do. It should be a good game to watch.
“There’ll be some good football being played and hopefully we can come out of there with the three points.
“We know it isn’t going to be easy, they’re a good side and they have players who can hurt us.
“Hopefully because of the way they play, they might be a little bit more open for us to attack and we can benefit from it.”
Long believes Saints will need to show their passing qualities, as well as a clinical edge to come away with the points.
“Because of the football they play, they get the ball down and play, it’s enjoyable to watch them,” Long added.
“But we need to outdo them at their style of play. We will be fully ready for the game after what was a disappointing result on Wednesday.”
