Sam Gallagher moved onto nine goals for the season with a brace in Blackburn Rovers' 3-2 defeat to Championship front-runners Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Saints loanee hammered home in the 66th minute at Ewood Park to pull one back for the hosts, who trailed 2-0 to the Seagulls at the time.
Rovers defender Gordon Greer was then given his marching orders for a second bookable offence before Glenn Murray re-established the visitors’ lead on 79 minutes.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Gallagher raced free in the closing stages of the game to slam home Rovers' second, but it was too little too late for the hosts who suffered a second consecutive 3-2 defeat.
Elsewhere, Jason McCarthy could do little to prevent Walsall from falling to a 3-1 defeat at home to Oldham Athletic in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Despite taking the lead through Amadou Bakayoko, the Sadlers were eventually sunk by second-half strikes from Lee Croft, Cameron Burgess and Lee Erwin.
