Time to pull together, says Ward-Prowse

James Ward-Prowse says it’s important everyone sticks together after a hard-fought success over Middlesbrough saw Southampton return to winning ways.

While the first-half frustrated, the second saw Saints attacking prowess come to fruition, as Sofiane Boufal’s stunning effort proved the difference.

And Ward-Prowse says it was important to bounce back from midweek disappointment, despite not being at their free-flowing best.

He said: “We wanted to put Thursday behind us and look forward to make sure that the Premier League campaign got back on track. We started off well today by doing that.

“I think it was a good sign today that although we didn’t play our best football, we got the right result. We need to make sure that we keep this run going and we’ve got games to do that.

“This is a time for everyone to pull together and stick together. We have to look forward to the next game and make sure that we are all backing each other.

Ward-Prowse continued: “The club is all about unity and togetherness and we all have to do that through the good times and the bad times.

“Obviously there are going to be the good times this season and there are going to be the bad times but we have to make sure that we keep plugging away at reaching our goals.”
