Sofiane Boufal reflected on a special day, as he scored his first Premier League goal to give Southampton a valuable three points against Middlesbrough.
Boufal netted with a stunning second-half strike, as his slicing left-footed shot from 20 yards arced into the top corner, proving enough to earn Saints a 1-0 win.
"I'm so happy for the victory today and to score my first Premier League goal in front of the fans in St Mary's Stadium. It's a special day for me,” said Boufal.
The Moroccan international was delighted to score because of one particular person in the crowd.
"It was the first time my mother came to the stadium and I'm so happy to score my first goal in front of my mother,” he said.
"I want to shoot, and I had a little bit of a chance, but it was so important for the three points.
“To score my first league goal was good, but the most important is the squad and the three points.”
