Armani Little believes last week’s cup win over Newcastle will set Southampton Under-23s up well for their Premier League 2 clash with Sunderland.
Saints ran out 3-0 victors over their Black Cats counterparts, and midfielder Armani is expecting a similar test against northeast opposition on Friday.
“They are going to be similar to Newcastle,” he explained.
“They will be a physical and tough side and will look to play football, but I think very similar to what we faced last week.
“We got a win in that game and of course that will have a positive impact on everyone heading into this game.
“We’ve had two positive results and have only got a few games left now before Christmas, so we want to keep an unbeaten run going.”
Having been out since pre-season with a knee injury, Armani returned to the action against Newcastle last week.
And the 19-year-old was delighted to play the majority of the match at Staplewood.
“It was brilliant to be back out there,” he continued.
“It was obviously really positive for me – to last 75 minutes in my first game, I was really pleased.
“My time out was really challenging. You have to be strong every day and do all you can to make sure you come back fitter.
“But now I am back I just want to make sure I can keep performing and hopefully get 90 minutes under my belt.”
