Claude Puel acknowledges that Southampton need other players to chip in, as Saints look to get firing again.
Following back-to-back matches in the Premier League and Europa League competition without a goal, Puel’s men host Everton at St Mary’s on Sunday.
And while the Saints boss is satisfied that his side’s defensive quality has been strong, he believes more of his team can ease a burden on the strikers by contributing more goals.
“I’m happy to consider that it’s a problem of the team and not just the strikers,” he said. “I think all the players can score – defenders from free-kicks, midfielders can shoot and go inside the box after the crosses and the strikers too, of course.
“For me it’s a general problem, and we need to find solutions together and not to consider just the strikers.
“On Thursday, it was not sufficient on the technical level, or in the quality with control, or with a good cross, with good running, and it’s important to improve this for Sunday.
“We show in every game many situations where we can have many chances, and we can be more aggressive to finish a little more clinically, but it’s important for Sunday to come back with positive attitude and to play good football without pressure.”
