Maya Yoshida says the UEFA Europa League experience this season has meant a huge amount to him – and he is determined to make sure it continues.
The centre-back has started all four of Southampton’s games in the competition, and is hoping he will get another opportunity to feature in Thursday night’s visit to Sparta Praha.
Yoshida explained that the Europa League has been a valuable experience for himself, as well as the rest of the squad.
“I really want to get this chance to play and I want to go to a higher level,” he said. “This is a great challenge, a new challenge for the team as well. The aim is to win and come back with a smile.
"Because we have many games, this means more opportunity for every player to play the games and that's a really good thing.
“That's why I don't want to miss this opportunity anymore. It's all about us, so we have to take this chance.”
Yoshida added: "The Europa League is a little bit different. It's nice for me as well.
“It was always a dream for me and I want to get a title in this team, so Thursday is going to be really, really important."
