Claude Puel was a happy man after his Southampton side earned a 0-0 draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Saints became only the third team to blank the free-scoring Reds this season, as they earned a hard-fought point at St Mary's.
Puel admitted it was a tough afternoon for his side, who were often under pressure, but he was delighted with how they held firm.
"I think it's a good performance from my players and a good point, because it was a very difficult game," he said.
"There was a high level on the pitch, with a good rhythm and it was very difficult to play against this team, because when they lose the ball they have a very good recovery, with a good transition.
"They are aggressive, physical also, and technical of course, so it's a good point. We lost three points in the last game and it's a good performance from my players today.
"There were some chances against us, but we could also have scored with Charlie.
"It was very difficult to develop our game against this team, because they are strong and physical, and when they have the ball it's very difficult to defend, but with good discipline and organisation we took this point without conceding, and it's a good performance from all the players."
