Saints can cope with workload, says Davis

Steven Davis believes Southampton are well-placed to deal with another packed fixture schedule in the coming weeks.

Saints played seven games in the short period between the most recent international breaks, and the load does not lighten as they get ready for a return to action this weekend.

Saturday's home game with Liverpool kick-starts a run that sees the team face 11 matches between now and the end of the calendar year.

Manager Claude Puel has been rotating his team on a regular basis to help deal with the schedule, and Davis believes that has been important.

“We have dealt with it well,” said the midfielder. "There’s good competition in the squad and the manager has used the squad well.

"When the manager came in, the system changed a bit. It took us a few games but slowly but surely we are getting there.

"He wants to play in the Southampton Way and we are getting to that stage where we totally understand what he wants."
