Oriol Romeu has celebrated winning back-to-back Under Armour Player of the Month awards, after receiving the October prize from Southampton supporters.
The midfielder again topped the fan poll, edging out Sam McQueen by a tiny margin, while also seeing off fellow shortlisted candidates Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Redmond.
“I am very happy, again,” said Romeu after receiving his latest trophy. “It’s something nice and enjoyable to have, and it means the fans are happy with me and the team.
“We are all enjoying it and feeling the love we are getting from them and we just want to keep them happy and have more and more wins.
“We are all feeling very good on the pitch, we feel warm and we feel the supporters are behind us. That is something very nice and very good to have and we want to keep this relationship and make it stronger.”
Reflecting on his own performances, having now scooped the September and October awards, Romeu said: “I’ve been happy and feeling every time a bit more confident and playing more and enjoying it.
“I just want to keep improving. The coach has given me games and minutes and I just want to prove to him I am ready to be there, to help the team and to do good performances.”
