Ward-Prowse on senior Three Lions experience

James Ward-Prowse says his taste of the England senior squad during the international break has given him the incentive for more.

The 22-year-old and Saints teammate Nathan Redmond both took part in Three Lions training earlier this week ahead of their clash with Scotland after being invited by Gareth Southgate.

And the England Under-21 captain says that has only increased an already burgeoning desire to reach the top level.

“That’s the end goal for all of us. We all want to reach that sort of level and to have had a taste of that this week has been great,” said Ward-Prowse.

“It makes me want to get there on a permanent basis and hopefully one day I can get there.”

After extending their unbeaten run to 15 games with victory at St Mary’s on Thursday, the Young Lions take on France next up as they beging to prepare for the European Championships in Poland next summer.

Ward-Prowse added: “It’s another great test for us as I think we’ll face another strong and physical side.

“It’s important we do the recover stuff right in order to get prepared for that one.”
