Davis helps Northern Ireland to victory

Steven Davis captained Northern Ireland, as they secured a thumping 4-0 home win over Azerbaijan in their latest World Cup qualifier.

The result keeps Michael O'Neill's side on track to qualify for back-to-back major tournament finals, having so memorably reached EURO 2016 earlier this year.

Goals from Kyle Lafferty and Gareth McAuley put Northern Ireland well in command by half-time, and they did not take their foot off the gas after the break at Windsor Park.

Conor McLaughlin made it 3-0 in the 66th minute, before Chris Brunt fired in a late fourth to complete the rout.

Northern Ireland now move above Azerbaijan and into second place in Group C, with only leaders Germany ahead of them.
