Saints to host Reading in Checkatrade Trophy

By SFC Media Thu 10 Nov Checkatrade Trophy

Southampton’s reward for getting through the group stage of the Checkatrade Trophy is a home tie against Reading in the Round of 32.

After beating Crawley Town at St Mary’s on Wednesday night, Saints remained unbeaten to top their group, and will now face the runners-up of Group A who lost to Yeovil Town in their final match of the group stage.

But after beating Bristol Rovers and earning a penalty shoot-out win over Portsmouth, Reading progressed as one of eight Category One Academy teams.

The draw remained regionalised, and with Saints having topped their group they were rewarded with a home tie against the Royals which will take place in the week commencing 5th December 2016.

A finalised date and confirmation of ticket details will be announced in due course.
