Nathan Redmond believes it will be a special night for himself and his fellow Saints teammates in the England Under-21 squad when they take to the pitch at St Mary's this week.
The Young Lions host their Italy counterparts in a friendly match at the stadium this Thursday, with Redmond, James Ward-Prowse and Jack Stephens all in contention to feature.
Redmond explained that playing on home soil will give the occasion some additional meaning.
"I suppose it does," he said. I think more so for the boys who came through the academy here, but it will be a special day for them and myself."
The game against Italy is the first since England secured qualification for the Euro 2017 finals, and it will be followed by a trip to Paris, for another friendly, against France, next Monday.
"The plan was always to finish the qualifiers strong and then when we got the friendly games we always wanted strong opponents, as the group wasn't always filled with tough opposition," said Redmond.
"We've got friendlies against Italy and France, who are both going to pose tough questions of our team, but we're solid and we'll be ready for it."
