Southampton Under-18s travel to Swansea City for their next Under-18 Premier League fixture on Saturday.
And manager Craig Fleming knows from personal experience that the Swans will be a difficult side to break down.
“As always at this level it will be a tough game,” he explained.
“They’ve got some good players and are a well organised side. I know their coach - I used to play with him!
“So it will be a tough game. There are no easy games in this league. Bottom can beat top on their day, as we’ve seen recently.”
A youthful Saints side suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Fulham in their previous league outing.
However, Fleming is pleased to see his predominantly under-16s and 17s-filled side gaining valuable under-18s game time.
“We’ve learned a lot from the Fulham defeat,” he continued.
“We’ve gone through the goals and the first-half where we didn’t perform as well as we can, so it’s been a productive week.
“With the way the lads have progressed up to the 23s and beyond, we are fundamentally working with the 16s and 17s, so we know it’s going to be tough.
“But it’s a learning process and the lads are getting good minutes at a level which physically is tough for them at the moment.”
