Claude Puel says Southampton must draw a line under their memorable night against Inter and ensure they are completely focused on the challenge of Hull City.
Thursday night’s 2-1 win over the European giants surely ranks among the most famous in the club’s history, but the Saints boss insists there is no time to bask in the glow of it.
"One day after it's always difficult, of course, with a short night, but it's important now to forget this game against Inter Milan and now it's another competition and an important game for us, against Hull City,” he said.
“Just two days after the Internazionale game, it's important to make a good answer and keep a good concentration on this game, because in the Premier League we need points. It's important to make a very good result away from home.”
Puel also wants to ensure the positivity after this week’s UEFA Europa League win does not take a hit heading into the international break.
"Of course, it will be important to have a good result just before the international break for the mind and the confidence, and also because we don't have a lot of points in the Premier League,” he said.
“It's important after we lost the last game, against Chelsea at home, to have a good reaction, a good attitude for this game, because it's important to be in the top half of the Premier League.”
