Cuco Martina is relishing his recent run in the Southampton team and is pleased he has taken the chance to impress manager Claude Puel.
An injury to Cédric earlier this month has meant Martina has taken up the duties at right-back, and he has been enjoying the opportunity.
“The coach gave me a chance to show myself and I've taken that with both hands and I've showed him that I can play,” said Martina.
“I'm playing now every two days – after every two days we have a game at the moment – and I'm playing now.”
Of course, the heavy fixture schedule also poses its own challenges, but with Sunday’s clash with Chelsea marking the second of three consecutive home games, Martina explained there is no issue with the workload.
"Sometimes it's difficult, especially if you are travelling away, but if you have a few games at home, like now, then it is quite ok,” he said.
"We are enjoying it a lot, because there are many games over these weeks. We need to stay fit and keep playing well, of course.”
