Claude Puel has indicated that Sofiane Boufal could be in line to feature at the San Siro, as Southampton visit Inter in the Europa League.
The club-record signing has been working his way to fitness since arriving at St Mary's a few weeks ago, and he is part of the group that has travelled to Milan for tonight's fixture.
Saints boss Puel revealed this could be a good opportunity to see the Moroccan international for the first time, adding that he is under consideration for a place on the bench.
"We will see," said Puel. "It's a good thing, I think, to see for this game Sofiane Boufal, I think on the bench, and we will see if he can enter the game.
"It's important to find him again and he will be an important player for the squad and Southampton, and it's important step-by-step to have him in good physical shape."
Puel has taken a strong squad with him to Italy, but is without Nathan Redmond, Matt Targett, Ryan Bertrand and Cédric for the match, as well as Florin Gardos and long-term absentee Jérémy Pied.
