Claude Puel is hoping to reward the 6,715 Southampton fans making the journey to the San Siro tonight with a famous result.

Saints will be roared on by a huge contingent of travelling supporters in the iconic stadium this evening, as they take on Inter in the third match of their UEFA Europa League group stage campaign.

Puel was thrilled to hear so many fans have headed out to Italy, and he wants to send them home with a result to treasure.

"I think it's fantastic support from our fans," he said. "It will be a pleasure to take points and to play a good game for all of our fans."

Puel added: "It's important to stay with good concentration for this game. It's not just this game – it's important to have that good feeling for all these games in the Europa League, as the most important thing is qualification.

"Of course, I think it will be a good game, a strong game for us. They have the obligation to win this game, in order to come back in the competition, but it's always very important for us to take points for our qualification. It's important to make a good game, with quality and with spirit, and it's a good place against a good team to do this."
