Claude Puel issued a message of thanks to the thousands of Southampton supporters who roared his team on at the San Siro against Inter.
Saints were backed by close to 7,000 fans in the famous stadium, but they did not get the result they craved, as the visitors suffered a harsh 1-0 defeat.
The incredible noise created by the travelling supporters did not go unnoticed among the squad, though, and Puel wanted to offer them his gratitude after the match.
"I want to give them thanks,” he said. “They can see the players with a good attitude, well-motivated, with very good quality on the pitch and many chances.
“I think they can see we were unlucky tonight and it's important to continue this work and for the next game to have the possibility to play with this quality so that the results come.”
