Claude Puel reserved praise for goalscorers Charlie Austin and Nathan Redmond after the 3-1 win over Burnley.
Austin’s brace came either side of Redmond’s low drive past Tom Heaton to extend the unbeaten stretch to seven games.
It was another superb team display, and Puel revealed that Austin shook off illness to be involved against his former employers.
Puel said: “He was a little ill this week and I didn’t know if he could play this afternoon.
“It’s important for the team with the character and a good spirit of course but all the players can make a good game this afternoon around him.
“You saw a very good player and a very good team in the second-half.”
He added: “Nathan also came in with a very good performance, with very good technique. I asked him to shoot a bit more when he gets the chance and he did that!”
