Claude Puel feels Burnley will provide a stern test of his side’s credentials at St Mary’s on Sunday.
The Clarets fell to an unfortunate 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Turf Moor in their last outing before the international break and are searching for their first win on the road this season.
Sean Dyche’s newly-promoted side are currently 14th in the table, with seven points from seven games, and Puel reserved praise for their spirit.
“Burnley is a difficult team with a lot of solidarity and good organisation. It’s difficult to get chances against them.
“It will be important for us to play good football with intensity and to be aggressive.
“We will see our performance for this first game (since the international break) but the support of our fans will be important for this game.”
