Bertrand and Cédric to miss Burnley

Claude Puel says full-backs Ryan Bertrand and Cédric will be missing for Southampton’s Premier League clash with Burnley.

Bertrand picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty, while Cédric has a foot problem that has ruled him out.

Additionally, striker Shane Long will be assessed in training tomorrow, after suffering a small hamstring issue while in action with Republic of Ireland.

“We have some little problems with, for example, Bertrand and Cédric,” said Puel. "These players will be out for the game on Sunday.

“We will see with Long. He is a possibility perhaps. He has a little pain, but we will see this tomorrow in the training session.

“There is some pain in the hamstring for Bertrand and for Long, and Cedric has a problem in his foot with the ligament. For Cédric, it is two or three weeks without training.

"I hope this player comes back quickly, because it’s important for the group and all these games in a short time to have all the squad available.”
