Pierre-Emile Højbjerg praised the Saints fight after their goalless draw with Leicester City at King Power Stadium.
Saints had more control of the game and created more chances than the hosts, but could not find a route to goal.
And having had to settle for a valuable point on the road, that extends the good form further, Højbjerg insists everything is improving all the time.
He said: “Leicester are a good team and a point here is a very good result. We showed we are not only footballers, we are also fighters who stand together.
“That is what it’s all about. Everybody in the Southampton shirt stand together, fight together and get the points we want.
“It’s only getting better but we need to stay focused, ambitious and analyse our game and be specific on our details.”
Højbjerg’s Denmark international teammate Kasper Schmeichel made a number of saves to keep the Saints at bay, something that the midfielder spoke to him about at full-time.
He joked: “Kasper saved one or two times and I said to him after the game that he could have let one in but he didn’t agree!”
