Oriol Romeu says the Southampton players are desperate to reward the club's fans with some silverware.

Speaking ahead of the team's UEFA Europa League game against Hapoel Be'er Sheva, the midfielder has given an insight into the team's ambitions and how the supporters are helping to drive them on.

"It's always nice to win a trophy," said Romeu, who was with Chelsea when they won the Champions League and Europa League.

"I think the supporters from Southampton also deserve something nice and we would like to give it to them.

"We have a very strong squad and we are here to win things. The squad is very competitive, we all want to get something big and we are working for it."

Romeu added: "As you go forward, every game is nice, and playing quarter-finals and semi-finals I think it's all watched around Europe and even the world and we all want to be there.

"Who wouldn't want to win the Europa League? It's a long run, it's very hard, but we're here to give everything in every game.

"We want to go further and go as long as we can and we will do everything to do that."
