Claude Puel was delighted with Southampton’s impressive 3-0 victory against West Ham United, as they made it four straight wins in all competitions.

Goals from Charlie Austin, Dušan Tadić and James Ward-Prowse sealed a terrific win at London Stadium, as Saints moved into the top half of the Premier League.

After a slow start, which Puel admitted wasn’t good enough, Saints showed their quality to come away with all three points.

“It was a very good second half. Our first half was not interesting,” Puel said. “It was not good football from us, but it was important to correct this in the second half.

“That is when you saw good football and we created good chances with a lot of possibilities. It’s important to play like this all the time in football.

“We seemed a little nervous at the start of the game and it was important to correct this.

“We scored three good goals and we didn’t take a goal against us, which is always important. The defence and the attack is the work of all the team.

“All of the team defend and all of the players attack. If we respect this for the future, we can make something very good.”

Puel made nine changes from the Crystal Palace win, as Saints once again showed their strength in depth.

“You can see a different team for every game. We made nine changes for this game in comparison with Palace,” Puel added.

“It was very interesting for all the players to respect the identity of our play and show their qualities. It’s good to use our squad and important to continue this good work.”
