Charlie Austin hailed a massive result against West Ham United as Saints secured a fourth straight victory.
The 3-0 success was the first win on the road for Claude Puel’s men this season, with goals from Austin, Dušan Tadić and James Ward-Prowse.
After his fifth goal in four games, the striker felt that the side were worthy winners after a slow start.
He said: “It’s a massive result to come away to West Ham and win 3-0. We’re delighted with the performance and we’ve got the keep this run going.
“It’s four wins on the bounce so we’re going into Thursday now all guns blazing!
“In the first ten to fifteen minutes we stepped off and showed a bit too much respect maybe but when we got a foothold we were deserved winners.
A wonderful team move saw in-form Austin sweep Ryan Bertrand’s inch-perfect low cross past Adrian to break the deadlock.
And reflecting on his scintillating goalscoring run, he praised his teammates for their service.
Austin added: “You’re delighted as a striker as you just want to score goals.
“That’s what you’re credited on but for look at the team we’ve got, we’re always going to create chances so it’s a dream!”
