West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic hopes that his side can invigorate their Premier League season with a positive result against Southampton on Sunday.
The Hammers have lost four of their opening five league matches, winning one of those at home to AFC Bournemouth, but after conceding four goals in each of their past two top-flight games, Bilic is hopeful that they can emerge from their recent slump in form which has seen them drop to 18th in the table ahead of the weekend.
“We have two massive games coming up and this is a great opportunity for us to get out of the trouble we are in,” said Bilic.
“It will bring back the confidence and the belief if we can get the victories.
“The reaction has been there in training and we always train hard. We have to do that in games and for 90 minute.
“Southampton got a good victory in Europe last week and played well last weekend. It will be another hard game for us.”
West Ham continue to adapt to life at their new London Stadium home, and Bilic has called on the club’s supporters to help them get back to winning ways.
He said: “I want the fans to be behind us on Sunday and we need their support more than ever. They will play a big part in this game.
“We need them every time but we need them now to help us get out of this situation.
“I said after the West Brom game that we had three massive games until the international break starting in the cup and then two big league games.
“Although it is very early on in the season it is still very important because we need the points.”
