U18 Preview: Reading vs Saints

Southampton Under-18s coach Craig Fleming has praised the consistency of his group, ahead of a trip to Reading this weekend in the U18 Premier League.

They head to Hogwood Park on Saturday looking to follow up an impressive 4-0 victory over Aston Villa, which saw the side return to winning ways.

And Fleming is pleased with the consistency of his side’s performances in recent weeks.

“We’ve had some really good performances and last week was the full package,” he told saintsfc.co.uk

“We defended very well and limited a dangerous side to very little as well as being clinical in taking our chances.

“A lot of the boys have been with Martin and Radhi in the Under-23s and the guys that keep coming in keep producing good performances.

“That’s a pleasing thing that we’ve got strength in depth and all in all the group have been terrific.”

Third-placed Reading go into the game on the back of three successive victories, but Fleming says his confident side are relishing the challenge.

“It’ll be another tough game for us, similar to Aston Villa and Tottenham. They’re very big and can go quite direct.

“Historically they’re good in the league so it will be a good test but there is confidence all the way through the Academy at the moment.”
