Claude Puel is expecting a stern examination of his side’s credentials when Crystal Palace visit St Mary’s tomorrow night.
The Eagles dispatched Stoke City 4-1 on Sunday to record successive Premier League victories for the first time since December 2015.
They are likely to field a strong side after going close to domestic cup success last season, narrowly losing out in the FA Cup final against Manchester United after extra-time.
Puel told Southampton’s official YouTube channel: “Palace are a good physical side who can play directly which makes it difficult to play against them.
“It’s important that we maintain a good concentration about our game and we hope to continue our good work.
“Perhaps at the end, there is a possibility that we could win the cup.”
