Cédric: We have a winning mentality

Cédric believes the winning mentality at Southampton can help them achieve cup success, ahead of a visit from Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.

Saints have reached the Quarter Finals of the competition in successive seasons and the full-back is confident they can go even further this time around.

Claude Puel’s men faced the Eagles in the FA Cup in both 2015 and 2016 and Cédric says they will know what to expect from a strong and technical side.

“Crystal Palace are a great team and we are expecting a strong team and a tough game.

“They are known for being very technical and fast but when you play in the Premier League you need to be prepared for that.

“We know what to expect and we always have to play against very good players.

“There are a lot of games with the cup and the Europa League but we always want to achieve the best level and win in every game.

“I think our mentality here in Southampton is a winning mentality. You have to do everything you can to win. You have to fight as one. We have one goal: to win the game no matter how.”

Tasting UEFA Euro 2016 glory with Saints teammates José in the summer has only whet the appetite for domestic honours at St Mary’s.

He added: “When you know what winning is, you don’t want to lose. You feel so much support from everyone.

“We had a very good start in the Europa League and I look forward to our game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

“If we all think the same way, we will get further in some of the cups and some of the competitions.”
