Sam Gallagher netted his third goal of the season as Blackburn Rovers picked up a 4-2 win against Rotherham in the Championship.
The striker was rewarded for a man of the match performance with a late goal against the Millers at Ewood Park, as Rovers picked up their first league win of the season.
After Danny Ward had opened the scoring, Rovers hit back through Craig Conway, Marvin Emnes and Ben Marshall to take a 3-1 lead, before Ward got his second of the afternoon for the visitors.
But Gallagher’s goal in stoppage time sealed all three points for Owen Coyle’s men.
In League 1, Jason McCarthy was also on the scoresheet for loan club Walsall, as they beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0, despite playing over 70 minutes with ten men.
Joe Edwards’ 16th-minute red card put Walsall up against it, but McCarthy scored nine minutes later and thanks to the heroics of Neil Etheridge, they held on for all three points.
It was also a positive weekend for Dom Gape with Wycombe Wanderers in League 2.
The midfielder started for Gareth Ainsworth’s side against Stevenage, and helped the Chairboys to an important three points.
Doyle Southwell’s first-half goal was enough to earn Wycombe there first league win since 13th August.
Out in Spain, Paulo Gazzaniga was an unused substitute as Rayo Vallecano lost 2-1 at Mirandes.
