Claude Puel says Southampton didn’t deserve to lose at Arsenal, as the Gunners prevailed thanks to an injury-time penalty.
Saints took the lead when Petr Cech turned Dušan Tadić’s free-kick into his own net as the visitors made a brilliant start to the game at the Emirates.
But Arsenal fought back to equalise through Laurent Koscielny and then won the game in injury time as Santi Cazorla scored from the spot following a foul by José Fonte on Olivier Giroud.
Understandably, Puel was frustrated with the manner in which Saints had missed out on a very respectable point against Arsene Wenger’s side.
“We can say it’s a disappointment because it’s the fourth game that we are feeling this way at the end of the game, with frustration,” Puel told saintsfc.co.uk.
“All the time you have the feeling you can win the game and it’s the same this afternoon at the Emirates.
my players deserved more for their efforts, because they gave a really good performance.cLAUDE PUEL
