Wanyama's Kenya lose at home to Guinea-Bissau

By SFC Media Sun 27 Mar Club

Victor Wanyama suffered another disappointing afternoon with Kenya, as they lost 1-0 at home to Guinea-Bissau.

After losing by the same scoreline to the same opponent on Wednesday, Wanyama’s Kenya knew they needed a result to keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Wanyama went close to opening the scoring as Kenya dominated proceedings in Nairobi, but it was an 81st-minute strike from Germano Mendes that gave Guinea-Bissau the lead.

Fan unrest meant a long stoppage in play, but Kenya were unable to find an important equaliser when the game finally got back under way as they slipped to another defeat.

The defeat leaves Kenya on one point from their four games so far in Group E. Wanyama will be back in international action in June, when they take on Congo.
