Long named in finalised Ireland squad

By SFC Media Sat 19 Mar Club

Southampton striker Shane Long has been included in the finalised Republic of Ireland squad for their March friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia.

Coach Martin O’Neill named an initial 40-man group that has now been shortened ahead of the players assembling on 20th March.

Republic of Ireland will then play two home friendlies at the Aviva Stadium, in Dublin, with Switzerland visiting on Friday 25th March and Slovakia on Tuesday 29th March.

O’Neill’s side qualified for UEFA EURO 2016 after a play-off victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina last year, and this next round of friendlies will see them kick-off their preparations for this summer’s tournament in France, where they have been drawn in a group with Belgium, Italy and Sweden.
