Saints' appeal against Mané's red card upheld

By SFC Media Tue 15 Mar Club

Southampton Football Club is pleased to confirm the club’s appeal against the red card shown to Sadio Mané at Stoke City has been upheld.

The Senegalese international was shown a straight red card by referee Lee Mason in the 90th minute for a challenge on Stoke’s Erik Pieters.

The club lodged an appeal against the red card, which would have seen him miss the next four matches, on Monday afternoon.

The FA informed the club on Tuesday that the appeal had been successful, meaning the forward is available for this weekend’s clash with Liverpool at St Mary’s.

The 23 year-old has made 35 appearances for Saints this season, scoring seven goals – the last of which came against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup back in December.
