Goalkeeper Fraser Forster was delighted to be named by fans as Southampton’s Player of the Month for February.
The stopper kept clean sheets against Arsenal, West Ham United and Swansea City during the month, before breaking a club record for minutes without conceding in the game against Chelsea.
Forster, who was enjoying his first full month back after injury, says the support from fans was instrumental in helping him and the team to a successful month.
“Ever since I joined the club the fans have been fantastic. When you are injured they’re a massive help,” Forster told youtube.com/southamptonfc.
“They’ve been unbelievable since I’ve been back in the team. I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome back.
“The support they’ve given me over the last few weeks has been amazing.
“It’s obviously great to win the award and I’d like to thank the fans who voted for me.”
The award is Forster’s second for his fantastic displays during February, having already won the Premier League Player of the Month prize.
And the goalkeeper says it was a big month for him and the team. “It was my first full month back in the team after being injured and it was a good run after being out for so long,” Forster added.
“February was a good month for me personally and for the team. We gained a lot of momentum and we’re still in a strong position now.”
