Shane Long has returned to fitness and is available for Saturday’s trip to Stoke City, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed.
The forward missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland, with a knee problem, but has been back in training this week.
Koeman told Southampton’s official YouTube channel: “Shane Long is coming back to the team.
“Shane is having a great period in the team, he's very dangerous, he's a fast striker, he has really the total confidence what you need as a striker at the moment and he is an important player for us at the moment.”
Koeman added that there is no other change on the injury front, with Long’s fellow striker Charlie Austin set to miss Saturday’s game and the following weekend’s home clash with Liverpool as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.
"Normally Charlie Austin will be fit after the international break,” Koeman explained.
