Koeman hopes for FA Cup catalyst

By SFC Media Fri 08 Jan Club

Ronald Koeman has stressed that he will once again be taking the FA Cup extremely seriously, and believes a victory tomorrow against Crystal Palace could be a catalyst for his side.

The Saints manager has always put a strong emphasis on the cup competitions since arriving at the club, and he explained that this weekend will be no different, especially as his team look to get back to winning ways after two defeats on the bounce.

"We like to make a good run in this competition and we take it very seriously,” Koeman told youtube.com/southamptonfc. “In the past we didn't make a lot of changes in the team and I think it's not the moment now to do more changes, because what we need is to continue what we are doing and, of course, finally to have a better result.”

Koeman added: “After the last two defeats, against West Ham and Norwich, we need a win, we need a win for the fans, we need a win for ourselves, and we did very hard work for this week.

“We need a win to have the belief and to have the confidence in the team that we can reach everybody.

“But there are enough examples in the past that we still have a strong team.”
