Koeman: Saints considering new striker option

By SFC Media Thu 07 Jan Club

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has explained that the club are exploring the possibility of bringing in a new forward this month.

With the January transfer window open, Koeman said that Saints may take the opportunity to strengthen their attack.

However, he said recent results would not alter their plans in terms of bringing any additional players in.

“That’s not changed. We are looking to get somebody in,” Koeman told reporters ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third round match with Crystal Palace.

Asked if it was just a striker the club were looking for, Koeman said: “Yes.”

However, the Saints boss would not be drawn on any specific names.

“What I don’t like is talking about names, about players, because these players they play for a team and it’s an internal discussion about players,” he said.
