Academy graduates Will Wood and Armani Little have signed professional contracts, Southampton Football Club is pleased to announce.
The duo this afternoon both agreed terms on three-year deals that will keep them at Saints until the summer of 2018.
Defender Wood has been a regular starter for the Development Squad this season, with today’s contract signing capping a 24-hour period that also saw him start in last night’s Under-21 Premier League Cup final win at St Mary’s.
Little, meanwhile, has also played for the Under-21s this season as well as captaining the Under-18s for much of the campaign.
With their scholarships now coming to an end, the duo will become fully-fledged members of the Development Squad from next season.
“It feels amazing,” Wood told Southampton’s official YouTube channel. “It’s a big step really to sign a professional deal and I’m looking forward to the three years ahead.
“I’ve been at the club since I was 11, so I don’t know any different really. I trialled at a few places before coming to Southampton, but I thought ‘this is the club for me’.”
Little added: “I’m just delighted, really proud – it’s a proud day for me and my family.
“I’ve worked really hard for this, so I’m really excited to get started. I’ve been here for four or five years now, so I’m really at home.
“The club’s always trying to develop players into the first team – it’s a good place to be at the moment.”
