Sims and England U17s crowned Euro champions!

Josh Sims and England have been crowned as champions of the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship after a penalty-shootout victory over Holland.

The Young Lions lifted the trophy in Malta’s National Stadium on Wednesday evening after the Dutch only managed to find the net once out of their spot-kicks before the winners were confirmed as England stroked home their fourth.

Sims watched on from the bench as Dominic Solanke prodded the John Peacock's youngsters into the lead shortly before the half-hour mark.

Jari Schuurman pulled England’s Group A opponents back on terms as half-time approached before neither side could penetrate the other again, resulting in a shootout following the 90 minutes.

Sims was unfortunate not to be involved as his team strolled to glory through a relatively one-sided set of penalties.

The Saints winger proved to be influential in helping England through the earlier stage of the tournament with energetic performances as they came second in Group A to their eventual final opponents.
